Spicy Honey Teriyaki Wings

spicy teriyaki wingsFor the Super Bowl today, and my nephew’s birthday – we had a bit of a party here. I’ve actually never made wings before and everyone really enjoyed these. I wanted something that everyone would be able to enjoy, so they’re not REALLY hot, but they have some heat. They sweet and spicy really go good together for some very tasty wings. I served this along with my blue cheese dip.

3-4 lbs chicken wings
1 cup gluten free soy sauces
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
1/2 cup honey
5 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
2 tablespoons turmeric
3 tablespoons corn starch
3 tablespoons water

wings2Preheat the oven to 375F. In a large baking pan place the wings.  In a small bowl mix together the cornstarch and water. In a medium sized bowl mix together the honey, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, turmeric, and Sriracha. Add the cornstarch to the mix in the medium bowl and combine well. Cover the chicken with the sauce and place in the oven. Bake for 35 minutes, then flip the wings and bake for another 35 minutes. Turn off the oven and let the wings sit in the sauce for another 10-15 minutes in the sauce before serving, allowing the sauce to thicken more. Serves 5-6 adults. Enjoy!

*Notes – I was able to find organic gluten free Sriracha (by Sky Valley) in the organic area of my grocery store. I did call another vendor and they did say theirs is also gluten free – but I felt a lot more comfortable buying something that was certified as gluten free and that I could read and understand everything in their ingredient list. Price difference was about $4.
